Back in early June, I worked with Cooking with Paula Deen magazine for a feature called "The Dining Gems of Little Rock." The article just now published in their September/October issue so I can finally share the photos. The article featured many of the local favorites including Argenta Market. The article highlighted that Argenta Market is a regular stop for North Little Rock (and Little Rock) residents who crave locally-sourced meats, vegetables and a variety of Arkansas-made products. I've shopped there many times myself and it's a great place to buy local. North Little Rock hosts a farmer's market on Saturday which is for Arkansas-only growers and vendors. Whenever any of the vendors have leftover produce, meats and other items, Argenta buys them to resell so nothing goes to waste.
In addition to featuring many of Argenta's grocery items, the article highlighted a favorite from their deli: The Croque Monsieur sandwich, which is a Southern interpretation with jalapeno cornbread in place of French Bread.
I headed over to Argenta on a quiet Sunday afternoon and photographed some of the local items featured in the magazine. Here are some of the photos published plus some of my favorites.
Some of the other local eateries featured in the article were: Brave New Restaurant, Capital Bar and Grill, Ciao Baci, The Root Cafe', Sims Bar-B-Que, Zaza Fine Salad & Wood Oven Pizza Co., and South on Main. As a major foodie, I can proudly say I've dined at all of these local gems many times except for one....South on Main is next on my list.
