Quest Middle School

In June, I spent the afternoon working with the wonderful team from The Design Group for photos of Quest Middle School of Pine Bluff.

We worked together to recreate their classroom setting with a select group of students for various photos for marketing and advertising. Quest educators collaborate to make sure each child receives the attention necessary to be successful while providing a safe environment committed to learning. Educators work with students and parents to meet the rigorous academic standards.

I was set to work with The Design Group once again in July to photograph for one of their Little Rock campuses, Premier High School, but that photo shoot was postponed due to a scheduling conflict. I hope to be able to finish that project for them once school starts in the fall.

Reading with Little Rock Family

The August cover for Little Rock Family Magazine is all about reading. And the importance of reading.

For this months cover feature, I traveled just a bit to a private home in Saline County to photograph some really, cutie-pie kids doing what every mother loves to see them do….reading.

Below is an excerpt from this months feature,

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you begin reading to your child no later than six months. The Academy conveys research showing reading aloud not only helps children learn to love books, but helps them express themselves verbally and develop socially, emotionally and physically. It promotes brain and intellectual development as well as vital literacy skills. These skills are critical in school and in life.

ATA World Tournament 2014

Earlier this month, I spent three days photographing the 2014 American Taekwondo Association's World Tournament. The word Taekwondo itself is made up of three Chinese/Korean words: Tae, meaning to kick or jump; Kwon, meaning fist or hand; and Do, which means "the way." Loosely (if not literally), it can be thought of as "The Way of the Hand and Foot." You can read more about the history of the ATA and its founders by going here.Little Rock has been the home of the ATA World Tournament. For the past two years, I've photographed the ATA World Tournament for Arkansas Business Publishing Group and for the ATA. Taekwondo and the ATA is a sport and an organization that crosses all ages, races, and nationalities. This years World Tournament drew more than 20,000 participants from around the state, across the country and from as far away as The Easter Islands. The Chileans showed their national pride by competing in traditional face paint. ATA even has divisions for those with physical and developmental disabilities. It's truly a sport that spans multiple generations in many families. I've seen grandmothers and their grandchildren participate on the same day.

The ATA is a wonderful organization and I cannot stress enough how much its members love participating in this sport.
