ACHiever Magazine

Arkansas Children's Hospital published their latest issue of their ACHiever Magazine yesterday. I am so very proud to have a wonderful photo story on one of their patients. Allie, a simply adorable, plump-cheeked little girl was born with several health challenges that resulted in her living nearly her entire life at Children's Hospital. I photographed Allie in February however in early May, Allie was finally able to go home after a stay at ACH which was longer than two years. My photo spread can be found here, but you can also see them below. Somehow, I also missed the publication of another one of their ACHiever Magazine's earlier this spring. The spread below feature photos of Izzabella who is currently under ACH's care at their satellite location in Northeast Arkansas. You can read more about Izzabella and seeing more of my photos, by going here:

I am always very excited to work with Children's Hospital.

Fresh Summer Eats

The Summer e-Recipe book has finally published. Last fall, I worked for the first time with the staff at P. Allen Smith to collaborate and photograph an e-Recipe books for Bonnie Plants. If you have any sort of vegetable or herb garden, chances are you it's a Bonnie Plant. All of my herbs are from Bonnie as well as my peppers and a few tomato varieties.

Many of the items we photographed last fall were for the Holiday issue so those published right away. You can see those photos by going here. But most of what I photographed were for the summer edition. I hated not showing these off, but I had to wait until summer. You can view the e-edition on line by going here.

All of these recipes are easy to make with simple ingredients that are simply delicious. Once my tomatoes are ready for picking, I WILL be trying this recipe. After the photo shoot, I sampled the tomatoes and they were simply perfect. Another must try is the Corn, Tomato & Pepper Salsa. I ate nearly every single bite.

Here are the link to other e-Recipe books from P. Allen Smith and Bonnie Plants: Winter Meals and Spring Recipes

Goodwill

Setting up for the interviews for the Goodwill videos.

When most people think of Goodwill, they think of those store front where people can drop off donations of clothes, housewares and furniture. The work that Goodwill does goes way beyond their storefronts. What many people don't realize is that the money raised by Goodwill's storefronts financially support their numerous programs.

In late April, I worked with BackFocus Productions and Kumpuris Communications to produce the Goodwill Industries of Arkansas tribute videos for their annual awards luncheon. Each year, Goodwill Industries of Arkansas selects an Achiever of the Year, and a Graduate of the Year from hundreds of candidates submitted for consideration by their program coordinators within Goodwill.  The selected winners are awarded during the annual "Turning Jeans into Dreams" with the video presentation of their story. Winners are past clients that have completed Goodwill's Job Training Program, or the TEO (Transitional Employment Opportunities) program.

The Job Training program provides services to anyone that has a disability. This includes developmental and physical disabilities that often make it more difficult to seek training and employment in a traditional method. Through Goodwill Industries of Arkansas' extensive education and training, their achievements are nothing short of inspirational. The TEO program is designed to help clients that were incarserated re-enter society, and gain full time employment.

We also worked on the their videos for their 2013 awards. You can also watch them all on Goodwill's website by going here:
