A world-class, heart care center. In Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Earlier this year, I worked with the BackFocus Productions, EXIT Marketing and National Park Medical Center on their latest television campaign for the Heart and Vascular Center of Central Arkansas.

The Heart and Vascular Center of Central Arkansas is the largest, most comprehensive freestanding cardiac facility in the region, featuring more cath labs than any other heart center in the region. Hot Springs is located an hour's drive from Little Rock so having such an advanced heart facility is important for Hot Springs as well as the surrounding communities. It is the only integrated heart center in the region, combining Outpatient, Inpatient, and critical care in one heart center while also connected to a full service acute care hospital.

Below are a few of the TV spots along with accompanying still images. We spent several days filming and photographing in the new heart center as well as the main hospital. An extra thanks goes to EXIT Marketing for asking us to be a part of this project as well as the staff of NPMC.

Behind the Scenes

Beer to Farm to Table: JV Farms & Superior Bathhouse Brewery

I've spent a lot of time over the past year working with Superior Bathhouse Brewery in Hot Springs photographing varying projects. But one I did over the summer was one of my favorites.

JV Farms is a small, family, homestead farm located in Bismarck, Arkansas. They use organic and sustainable practices and offer a variety of items such as: free-range eggs, whole hog sausage, rabbits, pasture-raised lamb and seasonal produce. JV Farms sausage and other pork products can be found daily on the menu at Superior.   I can attest to how good their bratwurst it.

Once the brewing process at Superior is complete, the spent grains are then scooped out and dumped into buckets. But what to do with it? Jay Lee, the owner of JV Farms picks up the spent grains who then feeds it to his pigs. To the pigs, it's like eating candy.

On a very hot afternoon in late July, I spent the evening at JV Farms during the feeding of the little (and big) piggies and then afterwards, it was dinner for everyone. You cannot beat the smell of fresh, artisan bratwurst on the grill.

Superior and JV Farms takes the Farm to Table concept one step further: Just add beer!

Elite Duck Calls | Hand-Painted Calls

I spent a few days in the studio last week working for Elite Duck Calls. I photographed several of their new calls including a series of new, hand-painted calls.

These are simply gorgeous.

Elite's new line of calls features hand-painted Labrador Retrievers in both black and golden with the customers choice of tone: Freak, Cache or Edge. Elite also offers three styles of mallards: both a drake and hen sitting and flying mallard. Below are just a few of these examples.

Calls will be for sale at the end of May and will be available at Mack's Prairie Wings in Stuttgart. These are a perfect gift (Father's Day is next month) for the avid hunter in your family or anyone who collects duck calls.

I always love working with Elite Duck Calls because each time I photograph their calls, it's fascinating to see how beautiful works of art these are.
