2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR
I'm not a gear head. Never have been -- nor do I want to be. Fancy, shiny and expensive cars aren't my thing....we'll maybe mid-1960s era Corvettes. So when I had the opportunity to photograph a 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR in October, I was very curious as to what a $2M car looked like. Yes....you read that right! A $2 million dollar car. At least that was the list price. I was hired in late October to photograph the 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR for RK Motors Collector Car Auctions that would be auctioning off the car in a few weeks. The assignment was pretty simple: photograph the car from all angles, both wide and details. They also requested a bit of video to accompany the photos so I brought along Mike McCall with Backfocus Productions.
We were working with minimal budget so it was a challenge, yet fun, to make a little go a long way for both photo and video. We traveled to Elite Autos in Jonesboro where the car was being stored. Elite's inventory: Bugatti, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.; is pretty impressive for the gear heads of the world. Don't think about just popping in to look at their pretty cars....all visitors are by appointment only.
Here is a link to the video that Backfocus Productions shot and was used for the auction. The video can be found here on their YouTube channel.
The car sold for $1.3 million.
